Determined - Dependable - Driven

About Mila Besich-Lira

Mila Besich-Lira is a lifelong resident of Superior, she is the daughter of  JoAnn Preciado-Besich and the late Steven L. Besich..  She graduated from Superior High School in 1996, and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Grand Canyon University in 2013. Mila has also participated in intensive training for economic development through the University of Arizona and is a graduate of the Hispanic Leadership Institute (HLI-Copper Corridor) class of 2015.  She was recently accepted as a member for the Freeport McMoRan Leadership Co-Hort.

Mila sees this opportunity to serve as the Mayor of Superior as a great honor and could not think of a better time to serve.  She believes that Superior’s future lies in a delicate balance between positive improvements and economic development, while still preserving and highlighting Superior’s beauty and history.  If elected, she plans to focus on working with the council, staff and the Superior Chamber of Commerce- Business Attraction Retention (BAR) program to develop a long-term vision for Superior’s future that will be the cornerstone for long term sustainable planning.  This will be accomplished by communicating and working together with the all levels of government, the business community, non-profits, faith based organizations and local residents to not only plan but set a course of action.  She believes that the key  to success is a transparent governing body that is accountable to the public, and open and respectful to everyone's comments and opinions.

  • Service above self
  • Communication is key
  • Integrity matters.
  • Honesty is a given.
  • Humility is a gift.
